What started as a blog has finally morphed into a book and now a limited-run podcast.
I’ve been podcasting since 2008.
Admittedly with a 16-year break.
I got in quite early when I was at FivebyFive and we were fearless in our approach to most things and unafraid to embrace the new.
Podcasts were relatively new and niche, the term having only been coined by Ben Hammersley two or so years previously as a portmanteau of iPod and Broadcasting.
But you could probably guess that.
For some reason, a handful of people agreed to be interviewed and we were even reciprocated on a few others. The artwork by Laura Rees still looks nice today. I remember it being quite a tortuous process – the production, not Laura’s work – needing a technology person to actually get it all set up and broadcastable across the interwebs.

I then left and it’s been percolating in my mind on and off ever since. I almost went all-in on one idea. We’ve even done a couple of pilots here that have not been unleashed. Yet.
And then while in a ‘do I or don’t I’ mind-wrestling of whether to press go on publishing the book of Stuff and Things to the world, I also wondered, “what if?”
What if I wanted to explain the chapters a little more? Specifically Part One – Stuff. Why did I choose that? What does it mean to me? And in some way, add some layers, perhaps some obfuscation too.
But also, another chance to be curious and experiment. To just have some fun. I shared a pilot with some people and they didn’t send the poo emoji back so I took that as a positive sign.
So here it is.
Enjoy. Or at least be kind.
Watch or Listen. It’s all the same to me.
