crap meeting equipment

 crap projector

Yesterday I had a surprise creds meeting, which is always a treat. But I found myself distracted and embarrassed for the entire duration by the makeshift projector set up. Normally we have nice, ceiling-mounted beamers but it had gone kaput (again). In it’s place sat a replacement projector atop couple of reams of paper to ensure it could hit the screen rather than the floor. Not great but acceptable under the circumstances. However, it didn’t stay as a couple of reams of paper. Someone decided to camouflage the reams in some brown paper (I thought only tramps had this these days?). And the icing on the cake was a calculator, on one corner, just nudging the projector to the right vertical angle. I shit you not, look closely at the image for proof. There’s more. And then the dessert wine, a demo of a work in progress, was very much off. Professional to the end. On occasions like that I sometimes wish I smoked either to chuff away the anger or to use the lighter to burn the makeshift props.
