It’s everyone else’s fault really. They kept telling me to write a book. So I did. Here it is.
Stuff and Things.
The title pretty much self-completed when I started this blog thing many moons and 568 posts ago in 2007 and called it “[bluurb] stuff and things i thought you might like to know”. I’ve dabbled with the idea of a book for some time and still have several loose ideas and drafts lurking in the vault. But this one got a kick up the behind when I was brave enough to answer Eraldo’s call to write a piece of fiction.
I had dabbled with the idea of pulling all of the blog content into one volume and tried a few of the online one-stop-shops but wasn’t satisfied. Looking back there’s a quite a lot of guff. Some interesting things too. But then I tried to pull together things that I keep coming back to. Principles you might call them, guiding thoughts, North Stars etc. Stuff that I like. Stuff that means something to me.
And then some Things. A curated set of blog content. Not a ‘best of’ because that would have to mean there was some level of best-ness. No, just some things that I think are interesting, some things I enjoyed re-reading and some things that I like. Some very personal ones in there. Some things that haven’t seen the light of day for a while or at all. Some work-related things with their claws deep in the advertising, digital and marketing roles. Some things that are more life reflections and poignant. Things that still make me stop and take pause. Some that hit hard. A few inside things for just me. Some things I probably couldn’t tell you.
It’s probably a load of bollocks but if one person enjoys it then I’m happy. I know of at least three people who like it enough to write something nice.
You can get it now over on Amazon starting from the price of a Campachoochoo and up to less than a main meal at a gastro pub for a paper version. If I may offer a little slice of advice, the paperback is the best version. The ebook just doesn’t flow the way I want it to and formatting is just too fiddly. It’s nearly there but y’know. Paperback and hardback flow the way I want it to. But as it is print on demand, the hardback doesn’t make economic sense unless you really, really want a hard one. Where’s Finbarr Saunders?
Anyway. Enjoy Stuff and Things. Leave nice words if you buy it. And if you can’t say anything nice say something funny.
